I drove up to Highlands North Carolina for a few days this week to be with my father for a couple of days. He was due in Asheville on Wednesday for some minor surgery on his one remaining kidney. Despite a full day at a hospital and lots of driving, we were able to enjoy some quality time with each other and I always enjoy being in the mountains breathing the thin air. It was also a very emotional time for me, dealing with an aging father who is fighting a new ailment is not easy for a first timer.
