Let’s Be “Friends”

March 31, 2010

You may know me personally, or you may be someone living in Middle America whom I’ve never met. I want to invite you all that I don’t know to “friend” me on Facebook. I use FB as a full service station for talking with friends and planning jobs with people. I love sharing ideas for jobs and shoots with fellow photographers. I’d love to know who’s out there reading my blog, the people keeping quiet in the shadows of the internet. So go to Facebook right now and search for Curtis Baker.

Today I was lucky to be in the presence of musical greatness. George Hughley with Johnny & The Lakewood 5 featuring Freddy Terrell. is a local band led by front man Johnny McGowan of (Grinder Nova). Along with some other local talent and two veterans from the classic soul / r’n b music scene in Atlanta, George and Freddy, the band recorded two tracks at Bakos Amp Works – “Home of the Ponce De Leon sound”. Each musician took turns laying down their own tracks and the end result was quite impressive. I was asked by Johnny to come photograph history in the making. I had a great time and cant wait to work with this very talented group in the near future.

St. Barth’s Final Day

March 21, 2010

I’m home now after a full day of cars, boats, and planes, and lot’s of delays. Just a few pics of our final day, and a couple of the house where we were staying. Time for a good shower to wash the sea salt off my skin and then hopefully a good night of sleep.  Thanks to everyone for keeping up with the trip.

St. Barth’s day 7

March 20, 2010

It’s sad, but today was our last full day here. I’ll miss this place, but I am glad to be getting back home to my regular life. Today we mixed it up a bit, Page and I went Snorkeling/Scuba Diving around nine this morning. It was fun, but something was missing from the underwater world. Not as many fish as the British Virgin Islands, and just not as much new found excitement. Don’t get me wrong, I had a blast feeling weightless 40 feet under the see, and I’d do it again in a heart beat. After the water sports we went home but then quickly headed back to town where we had lunch and tried to window shop, but since people here observe a siesta, there was nothing open while we were there. We went back home for about an hour of pool and snacks and naps, then headed to a new beach. This time we visited Gouverneur Beach, which is far from where we are staying but it was so worth the drive. I met people and we were able to enjoy the sunset and cooler temperatures along with the warm water. We came home and cooked a nice leftover meal while trying to clean out the fridge and drank all the left over wine before leaving tomorrow morning.
