Oh my, My little peanut has officially turned one! I couldn’t be more proud of my little girl for being such an awesome kid with tons of friends and family who love her. My in-laws held a huge first birthday party for Lily in Augusta. The “Doljanchi”, is a traditional korean celebration with lots of food and decorations. The child is placed behind object that symbolize different professions in life, such as a stethoscope for a doctor, a ball for an athlete, or an instrument for a musician. Lily took about 20 second to choose, but in the end she chose the little violin we had placed on the table. I have a long line of musicians in my family so this might actually come true. The party continued with some traditional birthday events, such as a small “smash cake” to play with and smear icing on her face. That turned into a slow destructive process. Icing in the hair, ear, and even some on my camera. The party was held at a friends Korean restaurant which provided tons of amazing korean dishes, enough to feed about 100 people. We had a blast, and most importantly Lily did great, no crying and all smiles as people passed her around the room. Thanks to everyone who was there and thanks for all of Lily’s gifts. She thanks you!

Happy Birthday Lily, your parents love you bunches!

Me and the family went across town to visit my God Father Leonard, AKA “Uncle Lenny”. He always has things for Lily that he found on the bargain shelf at Target, so we have to see him as often as possible, or the bags of goodies will bust at the seems. Lenny lights up when he see Lily, in all my 33 years, I’ve never seen him so happy. We are his family and Lily is basically a granddaughter to him. We always enjoy our time together and his building is a great place for Lily to roam around.

Lily is Almost One

May 23, 2011

My sweet little baby is now 30 inches tall and sprinting around the house. Babbling non-stop with the occasional recognizable  ”Hello” and “Daddy”. It has been a fast year but an incredibly fun one. Lily is my little buddy and we do things together during the day while Mom is at work. Family time is even better when we go out on the town as a small family of three. She is such an all around great kid. Good eater, good sleeper, and she is developing an awesome sense of humor. When I play anything by Katy Perry or Black Eyed Peas, she shows off her weird contorted dance moves that she choreographed herself. When she was a tiny baby we had hard days and weeks and don’t miss much of that. I do miss her falling asleep in my arms, but the trade off is a walking talking little human who smiles and laughs with/at me. She’s beautiful and special and fun to watch.
