Wade and I needed a place to get way from the city but not drive too far to shoot some nature photos. I decided on Boat Rock since I hadn’t been here in years and this was Wade’s first time. This a local rock climbing spot with many tough bouldering problems. The rock it’s self is very corse and sharp, extremely tough on the hands. Although there was no one cling while we there, we still got to enjoy the forrest and huge rocks around us.
I worked on some more of the pictures from this past weekend and decided to include some more from the day to help tell the story.
On Saturday I followed a few of my climbing friends up to Northeast Alabama to photograph them climbing a very tough location known as The Concave. I came mainly to photograph Kate Reese Mcginnis. Kate is a well known climber here in the southeast and beyond. She has won the Bouldering Triple Crown more then a couple times. She is on a mission to break the 5.14 barrier. The route she is on here is named “The Word” a very difficult overhanging route with some very large moves scattered throughout. Among the other climbers there were her husband Kenneth Mcginnis, James Pullum and Laurel Grefe I was suspended about forty feet off the ground to get most of these shots and I had a great time doing so. Good people and good times.
We drove up to the Little River Canyon in Alabama for some climbing and swimming fun.
